Angove's Tournament 5 February 2012 Twenty six teams played in the 7th Angove's Nominated 4s Tournament for bowlers from Division 2 and below.  The event is sponsored by Angove's Wines. The event attracted 104 players from around the metropolitan area including Alphington, Brunswick, East Ivanhoe, Eltham, Glenroy, Greythorn, Lalor (2), Ringwood, Rosanna (4), Vermont South, Warburton, Whittlesea.  In addition there was a sponsors rink (consisting of Ivanhoe players) and 9 other Ivanhoe rinks. Three games of 4s over 14, 13 and 13 ends each were played on a blustery Melbourne day.  For the first time in seven years the tournament was disrupted by heavy rain and wind.   Third game had to be abandoned and scorecards were ruled off after seven ends - maximum number of ends that all teams had completed. The event was organised by Phil Mithen.  Mrs Pat Gilbert, Area supervisor for Angove Wines joined us for fully catered lunch provided by C & S Catering.  Over the life of this tournament, there have been seven visiting teams that have attended all seven tournaments with another three that have missed only one of the tournaments. Two teams won both of their games.  This year the tournament was won by Ron Wearne's team consisting of Russ Leeson, Don Chesterton and Alby Clark from Ivanhoe Bowling Club with 52 points.  Runners up were Paul Hickey's team from Eltham Rec on also 52 points.
