International Day 15 April 2011 Twenty two teams played in this year's annual International Day Tournament Tournament. The event is sponsored by Capricorn Travel of Ivanhoe. This is an annual tournament held to celebrate the cultural diversity of Australia through bowls. Players with backgrounds from Sri Lanka, Fiji, China, Italy, Lebanon, Holland, Croatia, Germany, Ireland, England and Australia participated in the day. Two games of 4s over 14 ends each were played in balmy autumn Melbourne day. The event organised by Debbie Hingst. Lunch and nibbles after the game are provided by the ladies. Four teams won both of their games. This year the tournament was won by a team consisting of Diane Doherty's team from Diamond Creek Bowling Club with 42 points. Runners up were Joe Bounader's team from Ivanhoe on 39 points. Out of the major prize money were Adam Fisher's team with 38 points and Alan Willocks' team with 36 points. |
