This page provides meeting notes for the Ivanhoe Centenary Celebrations to be held in 2012.

Ivanhoe Centenary Committee

First meeting was held on Friday 04.02.11.
Present:    Kathy, Jan, Glenys, Phil, Joe, Dane and Jenene,
Apologise:    Dennis and Shaun.

The first meeting.

We discussed what events should take place throughtout the 2012/13 bowls season to commemorate Ivanhoe turning 100.  At present we are of course looking at a
dinner, bowls tournaments a family day and to rename some tournaments by adding the word 'Centenary'.

The dinner
At the moment we are unsure when the 2012 AFL Grand Final will be so we are unable to set a date at this time.  Joe will contact the AFL to find out.  The cost was discussed and it was decided that we try and keep the cost to around the $50 mark.  Jan had done some ringing around and web surfing on the world wide web and provided some ideas of possible venues.  We are still investigating and all members have been requested to look into a few places to get possible costs and seating numbers.  It was thought that we would need a venue that would seat around 200 - 250 people.

This dinner is for the sole purpose of celebrating 100 years and and allow a select few to give short sharp talks throughout the night.  But basically a time to let your hair down, kick of the shoes and go WILD!!!   All current, past players will be invited as well as other interested parties from neighbouring clubs and representatives from Bowls Victoria.

There was a good discussion about what should also happen at the dinner.  If anyone has any ideas can they please email Ivanhoe, talk to someone on the committee or just drop us a paper note!

The Tournament
Not a lot of discussion occurred on this topic, but it was put forward that this tournament would be designed to invite Bowls Victoria, Group 11 and other dignitaries would be allowed to waffle on. It would be the place we Bowls Victoria do there thing.
It was suggested that we incorporate the world 'Centenary' into some of out regular tournaments such as Gala day, Ivanhoe Classic and Angoves.

There could be the possibility of having a tournament just for Ivanhoe bowlers to ensure that everyone has a chance to celebrate this once in a life time coming of age.

Family Day
Although this is not really a 'family day' this day would be where we could invite past players, friends and families to a day on the green an possible celebrate our new synthetic green.  It will be a very unofficial day, where we could hold a BBQ and possible look at organising a few matchs of past legends of the club.

Letting the world know
The question was about how do we let anyone who has been a part of this magnificent and prestige club to advised that we are old and about to get the letter from the Queen for reaching this milestone.  It was suggested that we use such resources as the Bowls mag, send notices to all Victoria clubs, put a ad in the newspaper and the internet service where you place an ad.

Meeting held Thursday 24.02.11.
Present:    Kathy, Jenene, Dane and Joe.
Apologise:    everyone else.

The Dinner.
Having a few MCs to cover some of the history of the club and general chit chat.
Looking at running some kind of show during the night that displays photos past and present and other stuff of interest.

Next meeting is on Thursday March 10th at 5.30pm at the club.

If anyone has an ideas or suggestion, please send them in, as this is a party for everyone.
