Around the Club Ivanhoe in Division 1 Final The Ivanhoe Division 1 team completed a very successful pennant season yesterday with a resounding away win over Kew Heights 124-72. The win secured top spot for Ivanhoe on the Division 1 ladder. On Saturday we played MCC in the semi final at Ivanhoe. MCC went on to beat Ivanhoe 86-108. Despite the disappointment of the loss, the efforts of the Division 1 team finishing on top of the ladder at the end of the pennant rounds showed that the team had an excellent season with the foundations to build on the next season. Motor Neurone Disease Tournament. Twenty four teams played in this year's annual Motor Neurone Disease Tournament held to promote bowls to new players and raise money for Motor Neurone Disease. The event organised by John Higgins and his able helpers attracted 75 players (Non pennant players). These were formed into teams and the rain stayed away until the 3 games of 5 ends were completed. Photos of the day The event raised $2763.00 for MND Victoria and a special thank you must go to the sponsors. The competition is fours and each year in early February. We had 13 rinks full with 104 bowlers. Most of the visitors come regularly each year and there are seven visiting teams that have attended all six tournaments. Lunch and nibbles after the game are provided by the ladies. The weather has been great each year with this year being the only year where the weather nearly had an effect on the tournament. Fortunately the weather stayed good and the tournament was completed without any interruption. This year the tournament was won by a team consisting of Noel Spargo, Eric Butcher, Hugh Robertson and Ernie Richards from Eltham Recreation Bowling Club. |
